Y5B Turboprop Made First Flight

On April 23, the Y5B turboprop prototype made the first flight.
As the backbone of general aviation in China, Y5 was popular in diversified fields.
The new Y5B turboprop aircraft incorporates Honeywell TPE331-12UAN engine with 1100hp power, and Garmin G600TXI integrated avionics system. With improved performance, Y5B can be widely used in general aviation operations.
Y5B re-engine project is jointly developed by CAIGA and Beijing Weikaitong, previously named Pilatus Aero Techniques (Beijing).
The program was funded by Beijing Weikaitong and it also provides technical support. Both parties agree to fully promote the engineering design and trial production test and plan to make the first flight of airworthiness verified prototype in 2020.
